Purpose of the Position
The Procurement Technical Intern will support the end-to-end procurement function by assisting with the operational and tactical sourcing of goods and services across multiple categories, including fleet procurement, vehicle maintenance and repairs, tyres, and general (indirect) procurement. The role combines technical exposure (fleet and maintenance environment) with procurement processes, enabling the incumbent to support both standard and technically driven requirements. The intern will contribute to the day-to-day fulfilment of procurement requests, supplier coordination, and RFQ administration, while ensuring compliance with the organization’s procurement policies, governance framework, and approval processes. The role is designed to develop practical procurement skills, technical understanding, and cross-functional collaboration, while supporting improved turnaround times and service delivery. This role is intended to develop technically skilled individuals into procurement professionals through structured training and on-the-job exposure.

Minimum Requirements
•National Diploma in Logistics Management, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management.
•Trade Test qualification in Motor Mechanics or Diesel Mechanics
•Relevant technical exposure/experience in vehicle maintenance and repairs
•Demonstrated interest in procurement and supply chain management
•Willingness to learn and develop in procurement principles and processes
•Commitment to pursuing further studies or professional development in procurement (e.g. Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS)

Core Responsibilities

Feet Procurement (Vehicles)
•Support the issuing of RFQs for fleet vehicle procurement in line with provided specifications
•Assist in coordinating the technical evaluation process of supplier quotations with cross-functional stakeholders
•Follow up with relevant stakeholders to obtain technical inputs and clarifications where required
•Assist in compiling documentation for submission of technically evaluated quotes to the Pricing Department
•Support the maintenance of records related to suppliers’ responses, specifications, and evaluation outcomes.

Maintenance and Repairs Procurement
•Assist in issuing RFQs for vehicle maintenance, repairs, and parts in line with provided requirements.
•Support coordination with suppliers for inspections, diagnosis, and quotations, including following up on availability and feedback
•Assist in tracking repair-related procurement requests and turnaround times using approved tracking tools
•Highlight and report delays or repeat failures identified during the sourcing process to the relevant procurement lead

Tactical Sourcing and Tyres

•Provide administrative and operational support to the procurement function by assisting with the preparation and processing of purchase requisitions and purchase orders, maintaining accurate procurement records for audit purposes, and capturing transactions on internal systems where required
•Support the sourcing process by assisting in obtaining supplier quotations, following up on submissions and delivery timelines, and coordinating communication between suppliers, operations, and internal stakeholders.
•Contribute to the effective management of procurement activities by tracking outstanding orders, monitoring supplier lead times, and maintaining up-to-date supplier databases, including onboarding documentation.
•Ensure all procurement documentation (quotations, requisitions, delivery notes, and invoices) is properly recorded and compliant with company policies, while supporting reporting activities through maintaining procurement trackers, compiling basic reports, and assisting with ad hoc departmental tasks.
