Purpose of the Position
We are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Professional to join our Human Resources team. This is a broad HR generalist role suited to an HR professional who is ready to take ownership of a variety of HR processes and provide practical, professional support and advice to both managers and employees. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across the full employee lifecycle, including employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, performance management, training and development, HR administration, compliance and HR reporting.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Industrial Psychology, Labour Relations or a related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in HR Generalist, HR Officer or similar role.
- Practical experience across a broad range of HR functions.
- Experience in employee relations, recruitment, performance management and HR administration.
- Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation, including the BCEA, LRA, EEA, Skills Development Act and POPIA.
- Experience working with an HR information system; Sage 300 People experience will be advantageous.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HR advisory support and guidance to managers and employees.
- Support and coordinate employee relations matters, including disciplinary and grievance processes, absenteeism and other workplace concerns.
- Coordinate recruitment and selection processes from vacancy through to appointment.
- Facilitate onboarding and induction and ensure that all required employment documentation is completed.
- Manage and monitor employee lifecycle activities, including probation, transfers, promotions, contract renewals and exits.
- Support the implementation and coordination of performance management processes.
- Coordinate training and development activities and maintain accurate training records.
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files and HR information systems.
- Conduct HR file reviews and support HR compliance audits.
- Assist with ensuring HR practices remain aligned with applicable South African labour legislation and company policies.
- Prepare HR reports, statistics and management information relating to areas such as headcount, recruitment, turnover, absenteeism, employee relations and training.
- Maintain HR trackers and follow up on outstanding HR activities and deadlines.
- Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
