Purpose of the Position
The Junior Field Service Technician role is to support the Field Service Technician in the maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and repair of material handling equipment, primarily forklifts/yellow plant. The role assists with preventative maintenance, basic repairs, and service documentation to help minimise equipment downtime and maintain service quality. Under supervision, the Junior Technician contributes to operational efficiency, compliance with safety standards, and the effective delivery of Njilo Consulting’s field service obligations.
Minimum Requirements
•Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
•Qualified Diesel and/or Petrol Mechanic with experience in forklifts or similar material handling equipment; or Qualified Forklift/yellow equipment Mechanic.
•Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems pertaining to forklifts.
•Valid code 10 driver’s License (mandatory)
Core Responsibilities
•Assist the Field Service Technician in performing servicing and maintenance on material handling equipment, primarily forklifts/yellow plant, in accordance with company standards and procedures.
•Support basic fault identification and troubleshooting activities under supervision during equipment breakdowns.
•Assist in carrying out preventative maintenance inspections to ensure equipment reliability and safety compliance.
•Maintain accurate service records by assisting with updating vehicle maintenance logs and reporting relevant service information.
•Prepare tools, parts, and equipment required for service and repair activities on site.
•Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, tools, and service vehicles.
•Communicate effectively with the Field Service Technician and other team members regarding service progress and observations.
•Adhere to all Njilo Consulting safety procedures, operational standards, and client site requirements.
•Demonstrate willingness to learn, develop technical skills, and participate in on-the-job training.
•Be available to support field operations, including working irregular hours when operationally required.
